open heart surgery
My 7th grade class dissected sheep hearts in school. We diagrammed them and cut them open. This helped us to learn
The lab
In science, we cut up a sheep heart, filled it with dye to represent oxygenated and deoxygenated blood, and pushed our fingers into the aorta and vena cava. We also had to answer some questions on how the heart works. I learned a lot from this lab. I realized that the heart really isn't as gross as it sounds, and that it is actually a very interesting piece of the body to be able to see and work with hands-on.
